The issue who becomes the traditional ruler of Umunteke Autonomous Community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State was laid to rest on Friday, as Chief Sir Grant Obichi Chigbu emerged winner in the plebiscite that was conducted by the Abia State Ministry of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs.
It should be recalled that the tussle over who occupies the coveted throne has been lingering for nearly ten years.
The plebiscite, which were supervised by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Florence Chidinma Nwogu and the Legal Adviser of the Ministry, Barrister Becky Ngozi Ikechi, were witnessed by the Chairman, Ukwa West Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Chinyere Dike, the Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Mr. Newman Azu, Security Agents, among others.
The contest for the stool had Chief Sir Grant Obichi Chigbu poll 129 votes, while Chief Collins Emeka Dike scored 6 votes.
