Abia LG Elections: ADU Urges Ukwa West People To Conduct Themselves Peacefully As They Cast Votes

As Abians get ready for the Local Government Council elections on Saturday, the Asa Development Union, ADU, has urged all eligible voters in Ukwa West to go to their polling units on the election day to cast their votes in the most peaceful manner.

In a publication released on Friday, the Secretary General of the Union, Sir Boniface Nwaigwe, who signed for the President General, said they had reasons to believe that the elections would be freely, fairly and transparently conducted by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC.

The publication reads in part:

“we hereby urge all eligible Asa Voters to go to their polling units on the election day and cast their votes in most peaceful manners. It is also necessary that as you cast your votes, that you’ll remain peaceful and hang around to the end of balloting to ensure that all the votes are counted, announced and entered in line with the directives of the electoral body.

“Ukwa West Local Government Area belongs to the entirety of the people of Asa, and it behove on all of us to ensure that credible leaders are voted in to manage the affairs and commonwealth of the Local Government.

“The time for making the right decision is now. We call on everyone to be involved and to vote wisely. Better tomorrow belongs to those who diligently utilized today.

“We also urge the Government of Abia State, Abia State Independent Electoral Commission and the security agencies to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully and credibly and that the votes of our people count.”
