Ukwa West Occupies Strategic Position In Our Development Agenda – Gov Otti

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti has stated that Ukwa West Local Government Area occupies a strategic position in the development Agenda of his administration.

Otti stated this while receiving in audience the leadership of the Asa Development Union, ADU, the apex socio-cultural organisation in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, adding that his commitment to attend to the developmental needs of every part of the State without sentiments.

The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, thanked the people of Ukwa West for the support, prayers and gifts given to the Governor, assured his visitors that all their requests would be given adequate and prompt attention.

Earlier in his address, the Acting President General of ADU, Barr. Godson O.C. Ihenko, congratulated the Governor on the victories recorded at both the polls and the various Courts, and thanked him for the positive impacts his administration has made in Asa Land, which includes the appointment of some of her illustrious sons into key government positions, siting of the Abia Industrial Innovation Park, AIIP, the revocation order of the land forcefully acquired from the people of Ukwa West by the immediate past administration for the ill-fated Enyimba Economic City Project.

He also thanked the Governor for the projects embarked upon in Ukwa West by the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Develooment Commission, ASOPADEC, and the Local Government Council Authority.

Ihenko, while assuring the Governor of the total support of the people, used the opportunity to draw the attention of government to some needs of the people ranging from more political appointments into the various sectors of the government, Construction/Completion of Uratta-Umuekechi-Obokwe-Ugwati-Ogwe, Umudobia-Obibor-Umuelechi and Umunteke-Mkporobe roads, rehabilitation of Ogwe Golden Chicken project, establishment of School of Nursing, rehabilitation of Ukwa General Hospital, among others.

Contributing, the Mayor of Ukwa West LGA, Mr. Newman Azu, said that there is great joy in the land because the righteous is on the throne, and urged the Governor to disregard some unwarranted verbal attacks from the opposition whose aims are to derail his Government from the vision-oriented tracks it is plying.

In his vote of thanks, the General Secretary of ADU, Sir Boniface Nwaigwe appreciated the Governor and his Chief of Staff for the honour of the visit, and prayed God to guide and protect them all.

The event which featured presentation of gift items to the Governor by the Leaders of ADU, also had in attendance, the Vice Chairman Ukwa West Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Onyemauwa Nwagbara, Secretary Ukwa West Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Evans Okere; GM, ASOPADEC represented by Pastor Promise Onwukwe, immediate past President of ADU, Associate Prof Onwubiko Dike,Chairman of Ukwa West Labour Party, Elder I.O. Dike, Chairperson of ADU Women Wing, Mrs Ngozi Ogidi, President of ADU Youth Wing, Arc. Victor Chinedu Enyioko, Elder Alfred Agomuo, members of Asa Leaders of Thought, among many others.
