Asa Development Union By-election Hots Up As Ogwe-Born Dr Ememe Joins Race For President General

The Asa Development Union, ADU, by-election that comes up on Saturday has become more intense with the formal entry of Dr. Sanford Ibe OC Ememe into the race for the coveted office of the President General.

It should be recalled that the office of President General of ADU became vacant following the untimely demise of Dr. IK Ajuzieogu.

Ememe, who can safely be described as a rounded Nigerian having attended schools at Aba, Lagos and Maiduguri, Borno and Rivers State, has said that he would take the vision and activities of the socio-cultural body closer to the various communities of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State in order to encourage adequate participation.

In a publication released on Wednesday, Ememe disclosed that he is highly equipped for the challenges in the office of President General of ADU, adding that he is humble, approachable, reachable, frank and transparent.

The long time serving member of ADU also said he was very passionate about the affairs of the people ASA, which according to him has been a family tradition.

On his mission for the people of Asa, Ememe said he would, among other things:

* Sustain the present momentum of ADU
* Work against forces of retrogression beclouding Asa land.
* Improve security of lives and properties which will encourage internal and foreign investors to invest more in Asa land.
* Build and maintain a group of selected brilliant, experienced, tested and trusted sons and daughters into a formidable Tink Tank that will help fasten developmental goals in Asa.
* Create and use Asa National Economic Council (ANEC) to involve Asa people both at home and in the diaspora in raising economic ideas to attract more investors to Asa, which is naturally endowed.
* Organise Stretegic and Leadership Summit for ADU and its leadership, CDC of various Communities, Community Youth leadership etc. to ensure that they have the opportunity to serve their people more meaningfully.

Ememe, a holder of a Master of Science degree in Regional Planning and Development from the University of Port Harcourt, and an awardee of a doctoral degree in Religious Art by the American Chaplain Corps, is the paramount Chief of his community. He was Chairman, Asa Peace Committee, an initiative of the ADU in 2007, former Vice President, ADU, Port Harcourt Branch and former President, ADU, Port Harcourt Branch.

Dr. Ibe Ememe, currently the South Eastern States Zonal Secretary of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, is the proprietor of Naturelight International Group of Schools, Ogwe. He served as a member of Nigerian Technical Experts in Windhoek under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and founded the Miles Away From Poverty Alleviation (MAPO), a thrift and loan financial venture.

The ADU President General hopeful, who has remained an active member of the Union since 2018 when he retired to his country home, Ogwe, in the statement, appealed for support for his candidacy as he is able and knowledgeable to pilot the affairs of the ADU.
