The Asa Development Union, ADU, the apex socio-cultural organisation in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, has announced the death of its President General, Dr. IK Ajuzieogu.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Secretary General of the Union, Sir Boniface U. Nwaigwe, said Ajuzieogu died in the late hours of Monday, October 2, 2023 after a brief illness.
The statement reads in part:
“Dr. Ajuzieogu was sworn-in as the President General of Asa Development Union on the 19th of August, 2023; and he spent his last one month on planet earth, laying strategic foundation for the Developmental Survival of Asaland. He had meritoriously served as the Secretary-General of A.D.U. for two terms, and was the Candidate of the All People’s Party (APP) for Ukwa West State Constituency Election during the last General Elections.
“Dr Ajuzieogu will be remembered for his great passion for Asa cause, his high level of intelligence, his commitment to the well-being of the society and his dedicated services to our fatherland.
“He left behind his beautiful wife, Mrs Chidinma Ik. Ajuzieogu, his aged foster-mother, brothers, sisters and other close relatives.”
The late Dr. IK Ajuzieogu, who studied Veterinary Medicine, made his last public appearance at the ground breaking ceremony of the Abia Industrial Innovation Park at Owaza in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
