The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri has said he would not rest until the Federal Government approves a higher institution in Ukwa land if he is voted into power.
Okpokiri, who stated this in a chat with Newsportal on Monday, pointed out that the level of illiteracy in his area needed the presence of a federal government higher institution to facilitate the acquisition of academic knowledge by the people of Ukwa.
He said education had been given a pride of place in his manifesto, and he was determined to use legislation, lobbying and contacts to attract one high institution to Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
In his words, “Education is the bedrock of modern development. We need an educated populace to drive the growth of our economy.
“It is important that opportunities are provided for those in our constituency who wish to pursue education and training, either through the normal academic channels or through technical skills acquisition.
“I will promote legislation that will ensure the establishment of a federal University or Polytechnic in Ukwa land”.
