Leading contender for the Abia South Senatorial ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna, has withdrawn from the race following consultations with the leadership of the party.
Addressing party delegates at the Aba Recreation Centre, venue of the primary election, Enyinna said he had to withdraw based on an understanding reached by the leadership of the Abia State APC.
He commended the delegates for comforting themselves in a peaceful manner during the election, adding that as a party man who believed in the supremacy it was the best option for him to withdraw in the interest of continued progress in the party.
Enyinna, who is from the Ukwa political bloc of Abia South, was prepared to address the deprivations suffered by the people of Abia South in Abia State.
Throughout his campaigns for votes from APC delegates, he emphasised the marginalisation of Ukwa as his driving force in the quest to represent Abia South in the National Assembly.
He had stated in one of his campaigns that Ukwa West was a critical component of Abia South, being the only oil producing area in the State, but has remained marginalised for many years by successive governments in the State.
