The Executive Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Hon. (Elder) Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu, PhD, DSSRS, has presented brand-new official vehicles to the Vice Chairman, Council Secretary, Chief of Staff, and Councillors of the Local Government Council in a landmark ceremony held at the Council Multipurpose Hall, Afam.
The official commissioning of the vehicles was performed by His Excellency, Amb. Desmond Akawor, Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), who commended the Executive Chairman for his visionary leadership and commitment to strengthening local governance.
The event attracted several distinguished personalities, including Hon. Felix Uche Nwaeke, Member representing Eleme/Oyigbo/Tai Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Hon. Gerald Oforji, Member, Rivers State House of Assembly; Hon. John Nwachukwu, Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State; Hon. Chisom Promise Dike, former Member of the House of Representatives; Hon. Ibeawuchi Alex; Hon. Acho Elechi, HRH Eze Boniface Akawor; Onyeweali Egberu Kingdom xiii, principal officers of the Council; traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, and party faithful.
The wife of the Executive Chairman, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Nkeiru Akara Nwaogu, also graced the occasion alongside members of the Oha Oyigbo Women, who added colour and excitement to the ceremony with their beautiful traditional attire.
In his remarks during the commissioning, Amb. Desmond Akawor applauded Hon. Akara Nwaogu for replicating in Oyigbo the remarkable achievements recorded by only a few local government chairmen across the country. He described the procurement of official vehicles for the principal officers of the Council as a commendable investment in effective governance and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the vehicles strictly for official assignments and in the service of the people.
Other political leaders who spoke at the event also praised the Executive Chairman for his numerous developmental projects and people-oriented programmes across Oyigbo Local Government Area. They described the vehicle presentation as another testament to his commitment to good governance and pledged their continued support for his administration.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Vice Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Hon. Juliana Ngozi Okorie, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman for the generous gesture. She assured him that the recipients would make effective and responsible use of the vehicles while remaining steadfast in supporting his administration to achieve greater development for the people of Oyigbo.
The presentation of the official vehicles marks another milestone in the administration’s drive to strengthen institutional capacity, improve service delivery, and promote efficient governance in Oyigbo Local Government Area.
