US-Based Prominent Ukwa Son Urges Senator Abaribe To Drop Re-Election Bid, Says He Has Lost Touch With Grassroots

A prominent son of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief Sir Ejikeme C. Alozie-Nwagboso, has called on the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe not to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections.

In an open letter dated May 19, 2026, circulated on social media, Alozie-Nwagboso described Abaribe’s reported plan to return to the Senate as an attempt at political entrenchment that undermines the democratic principles the lawmaker publicly advocates.

The US-based Ukwa son argued that after nearly two decades in the Senate, Senator Abaribe has become increasingly disconnected from the realities and needs of the grassroots constituents in Abia South.

According to him, “After 20 years, any legislative agenda that has not been fulfilled is unlikely to be achieved in a 24th or 28th year.”

Concluding his letter to Abaribe, Alozie-Nwagboso said,” the most honourable service you can provide in Abia South is to voluntarily step down and allow the democratic process to breathe. To do otherwise is to confirm that your advocacy for fairness is merely a tool for national optics.”
