Ukwa West Labour Party Holds Successful Congresses As Environment Commissioner Ogbonna Says Winning All Elective Positions Crucial

The Ukwa West Labour Party (LP) on Thursday and Friday, successfully, held its Ward and Local Government Area Congresses.

The congresses produced new Executive Committees across all the ten political wards in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, as well as the LGA party leadership. It also produced three delegates from each of the three zones that make up Ukwa West – Asa Group, Ipu and Ozaa that will represent the area at the State Congress.

Speaking during the Congress, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna emphasised the importance of unity and dedication among party members, stressing that winning all elective positions in the 2027 general elections is very crucial for the LP.

According to him, “The time for distractions is over, and the time for victory is now.”

In his remarks, the member representing Ukwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Godwin Anyamagiobi Adiele called for vigilance in protecting the people’s mandate. He said, “Be vigilant, be watchful. The government of Dr. Alex Otti is working for you. Let us repay that performance with loyalty at the ballot.”

The Executive Chairman of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Pastor Dike Briggs Nwankwo, charged the LP faithfuls to remain steadfast and loyal, pointing out that the party plays according to the rule of law, and preaches orderliness. He stated, “We do not just talk change, we demonstrate it.”

The congresses were monitored by officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and Department of State Services (DSS).
