The newly elected President General of Asa Development Union, ADU, Elder Goodluck Nwuju, has disclosed that the organisation was determined to foster unity, love and cohesion among Asa people of Ukwa West Local Government Area in Abia State.

Speaking during a Summit with the theme, “Asa Growth and Development Agenda: Making Right Choices for Gainful Impacts”, organised by the ADU at the Chyvik Model Secondary School, Obehie, Nwuju, who sought the support of all and sundry in their drive to achieve the objective, disclosed that the apex socio-cultural organisation in Ukwa West would be embarking on a unity rally between January and February 2025 across the ten political wards in Ukwa West.

He said the rally would, among other things, provide opportunity for the resolution of any existing or perceived differences, whether politically or socially motivated, and reposition Asa for greater achievements, create more awareness about the activities of the Union, and bring all political party leaders/members together to chat a new course for the advancement of the interests of Asa people.

The President General said, “it needs be emphasised that for us to reach our expected destination, there must be a deliberate paradigm shift in our approaches. Over the years, many of our people have placed their personal interests over and above the collective interests of Asa people; hence we witness all kinds of political manoeuvres in the quests for survival. But it is certain that any community that seeks emancipation of its people from slavery must, as a matter of priority, put aside individual interest and focus on collective interests”.

Adinigwe Nwoke, Port Harcourt based businessman and Chief Innocent Egbu, former National Secretary, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors.
