The Abia State Ministry of Environment has suspended all service providers and revenue collection agents working with the Ministry.

According to a release dated July 04, 2014, signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, the suspension, which takes immediate effect stems from the fact that some persons and companies parading themselves as service providers and revenue collection agents do not have the official approval of the Ministry.

The release states:

“The Abia state Ministry of Environment has observed with great concern, that some persons and companies parading themselves as Service Providers and Revenue Collection Agents do not have the official approval of the Ministry.

“The Ministry is therefore constrained to suspend, with immediate effect, all previous approvals and the services of all Service Providers and Revenue Collection Agents on Environmental matters until further notice.

“Consequently, all those who regard themselves as Service Providers and Revenue Collection Agents of the Ministry of Environment are hereby directed to report to the Ministry for verification and validation of their approval and activities.

“PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR THE VERIFICATION AND REVALIDATION OF ALL PREVIOUS APPROVALS WILL ELAPSE 8 WEEKS FROM THE PUBLICATION OF THIS PUBLIC NOTICE.”
