Chief Sir Marc Wabara, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday led stakeholders of the party from the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency comprising Chief William Nwanguma, Chief Chukwuemeka Wosu Ezi, Chief Dans Blessings Adokiye, Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna, ThankGod Ntaku, Signor Kanu, Noble Izuchukwu Ahuruonye and Darlington Iwoh to attend the party’s meeting called by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu at Asokoro in Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, Kalu said the need for the unity of the party in Abia State motivated him to call for the meeting, adding that without uniting the people, consolidating and expanding the party, it would be difficult to win the number seat in Abia State.
He charged the Stakeholders to identify persons who were missing from the APC with a view to reaching out to them individually and reintegrating them into the party.
The Deputy Speaker, who appealed to the members of the APC to shun bitterness, said there was no need for the divisions and rancour in the party.
He reiterated the criticality of ensuring that leaders of the party were allowed to decide what happens in their various local government areas, stressing that it would be counterproductive to ignore the feelings of leaders when issues concerning their zones are discussed.
He also said the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to making sure development reached the grassroots.
Earlier in his speech, former Senator representing Abia Central, Chris Adighije, disclosed that in all the engagements he has had with the Deputy Speaker, that the issue of the unity of the Abia State APC dominated their discussions.
Among the Stakeholders that graced the occasion, which had representatives from the 17 Local Government Areas of the State, were Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, former Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu, Dr. Anyim Nyerere, former Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, member North East Development Commission, NEDC, Sam Onuigbo, Hon Nnanna Uzor Kalu, onetime acting Governor, Abia State, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka.
