The Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Newman Azu on Friday inaugurated the ten members Transition Committee Councillors appointed by the Governor of the State.
He charged the Councillors to be proactive in discharging their responsibilities, adding that the appointment was a call to serve their fatherland through the political Wards they represent.
The Mayor said:
“We are rich, yet poor. The only solution is for us all to come together, creating entrepreneurship and opportunities.”
Azu, who noted that young people have fertile minds for new ideas, emphasized that the missing link was the lack of opportunities.
He assured that his administration was committed to changing the narratives of under-development of the area.
Also speaking, the Deputy Mayor of Ukwa West, Hon. Michael Anaele advised the Transition Committer Councillors to see the appointment as a call to serve the people, and an opportunity to contribute their quota towards the growth and development of the local government area.
The Councillor representing Ozar Ukwu Ward, Ndukaku Anyamele, on behalf of the others thanked the Almighty God for uplifting them from obscurity to limelight. He also thanked the Executive Governor Of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti and the Mayor of Ukwa West, for giving them the privilege to serve as Councillors in the State.
