A few hours to the burial of the late Dr. IK Ajuzieogu, former President-General of the Asa Development Union, ADU, eulogies have continued to pour in from some distinguished indigenes of Ukwa West Local Government Area.
On late Dr Ajuzieogu, former Secretary to the Abia State Government, Pastor Ralph Egbu had this to say:
“His transition has remained a big surprise to all of us, his fellow Asa people. His many forays touched us fundamentally and in so many ways.
Another son of Ukwa West had these kind words for the late President General of ADU, Dr. Ajuzieogu.
“He was not just a visionary, he carried “fire” and energy to stay the course. Some misconstrued this to mean impatience or quick temper, but the truth is that he had no place for any retrogressive positioning and moves. He felt his people had had enough rough handling from different quarters so it was time to reverse the ugly trend. He was sold to the fight for a new order.”
“He was so humble you can never imagine how important he was at the pharmaceutical giants ‘Niemet’…. Few times I visited him at his office, for the mere fact of mentioning his name at the gate, I was treated as a VIP.
“Dr Iyke was an enigma in matters concerning Asa people in Lagos, he can go extra miles trying to please an Asa man that comes in contact with him.
“He once invited me to come for an Abia think tank meeting at that time, which was being bank-rolled by Dr Ohuabunwa in Lagos,); even though I couldn’t go to the meeting yet he briefed me on the progress.
“It was based on his belief and love for Abia State and Asa land that propelled him to resign his very high position in Niemet pharmaceuticals to return home to Abia state.
“When I heard about his return to Aba, I was not happy with him and I made my feelings known to him, but in his usual calmness and humility he told his reasons and I respected that.”
For Dr. Stanford Ibe Ememe, “He was frank, committed, courageous, intelligent and prompt in executing an assignment with precision.
“His passion for greater Asa land and it’s people was lofty. He set and achieved targets, winning battles that would have reduced the right and integrity of our people with his team of ADU executives led by Dr Ngozi Dike as PG.
“Life isn’t how long one lived but, how well and how many positive impacts did one leave behind. Within the short but eventful time Dr Ik Ajuzieogu spent with us, he made a positive mark, setting a standard.”
Hear Dr. Emmanuel Chubuike Kanu, “Late Dr Ajuzieogu was positively consumed by his undaunted passion for realising our (Asa) collective mental and physical developmental objectives. I am convinced that as a tribute to his soul’s longings, the present Caretaker Committee and subsequent Executives will ensure that Late Dr Ajuzieogu’s dreams for Ala Asa are fulfilled.”
The remains of late Dr. Ajuzieogu will be laid to rest in his hometown, Obokwe, Ukwa West Local Government Area, tomorrow, December 1, 2023.
