Residents of Ukwa West Local Government Area that have been suffering the hazards of dilapidated roads for more than a decade will soon heave a sigh of relief as the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has awarded the re-construction of some critical roads. They are the Owaza – Okohia – Uzuaku – Imo River – Oboama junction road, the Uzuaku – Umuelechi – Umuajoha -144 Batallion road and the Ngwaiyiekwe – Ogwe road.
Speaking during a civic reception organised in his honour at the Ogwe Central School in Ukwa West Local Government Area, Abia State, on Tuesday, the Commissioner representing Abia State on the board of the NDDC, Chief Dimgba Eruba said the reconstruction of the roads would commence immediately.
He also said the Commission was committed towards the oil-rich local government area having electricity before the yuletide of 2023.
The Commissioner thanked the organisers of the civic reception for the honour done him, adding, “I promise you that I shall not be found wanting in the delivery of the dividend of democracy as a member of the board. The commission will be addressing our challenges and more projects will be executed.”
