Ukwa West Traditional Rulers Council Commends Gov Otti For Appointing Credible Sons Into Govt


The Ukwa West Council of Traditional Rulers has commended the governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti for appointing their sons with credibility into his government.

It should be recalled that the Abia State Governor recently appointed into his government the following Ukwa West sons; Philemon Asonye Ogbonna as Commissioner for Environment and Urban Renewal, Pastor Nwadike Nwankwo, the Director General of the Abia State Orientation Agency and Venerable Joshua Onyeike as the General Manager of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of Ukwa West Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH. Eze Chinyere Dike and Secretary, HRH. Eze Ndubuisi Ogbuji, and made available to the press, the traditional rulers said they were satisfied with the calibre and integrity of their sons whom the Governor has chosen to work with.

They drew the attention of the Governor to the neglect of their area by previous governments, and appealed to him to accord Ukwa West a pride of place in his developmental strides in the State.

The Council noted with concern that their area was easily neglected in spite of the fact that it is the only oil producing local government area in Abia State, adding that they come under intense pressure regularly in the bid to prevent the restive youths from resorting to violence and self-help because of the neglect.

According to them, they don’t have any standard and functional primary and secondary School, health facility in their area. Other needs they highlighted included good roads and provision of electricity.
