The Ukwa West chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, on Friday, at the party’s Secretariat, Obehie, during a Stakeholders meeting, was enlightened on how to improve the fortunes of the area by the different aspirants for various political offices in the area.
The party members present were excited as each aspirant unfolded plans to ensure that the people of the local government area reaped dividends of democracy if they become representatives of the people.
In his speech, Abia South APC Senatorial aspirant, Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna, said he had continued to vie for political positions for more than a decade because of the interest he has for the people of Abia State.
He said he was determined to ensure the fortunes of the people of Abia State changed for the better if he is elected as the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, adding that the infrastructural decay in Abia State, particularly in Abia South, was so monumental that every right thinking person in the area would do everything humanly possible to democratically remove the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from power.
Enyinna said:
“I am not desperate but I am willing to serve my people in the capacity of a Senator.”
He appealed to party members to vote for him during the primaries and work with him, diligently, to bring a smile on the face of the people of Abia South.
For Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri, who can safely be regarded as the candidate of the APC for the Ukwa East / Ukwa West Federal Constituency, the situation of Ukwa land is very pitiable and calls for an urgent intervention of well meaning sons and daughters of Ukwa.
He said:
“Because of our oil, Abia is an oil producing State. Unfortunately, both the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC set up by the government to ameliorate the conditions of Ukwa land have not done much to address our challenges, and we have become a sheep without shepherds.
“You will feel my impact if you support me with your votes to represent Ukwa Federal Constituency.”
Okpokiri called for the unity of the party in the Federal Constituency, emphasising that there is strength in unity.
In his own speech, Ukwa West State Assembly aspirant, Anselm Eletuo said his decision to vie for the House of Assembly was a product of consultations with the leadership of the party.
While appealing for the votes of party members during the forthcoming primaries, Eletuo stated that he was eminently qualified to represent Ukwa West in the Abia State House of Assembly and was prepared to make personal sacrifices to ensure that Ukwa West enjoyed democracy dividends.
Other aspirants that spoke in the same light of effective and qualitative representation for Ukwa West State Constituency were Ahuruonye Noble Izuchukwu and Ikechi Nwogu, both from Asa North Zone of Ukwa West Local Government Area.
The Leader of Ukwa West APC, Chief Nwogu Nnah Nwogu appealed to the aspirants for the House of Assembly to meet, discuss and arrive at a consensus to avoid acrimonious situations in the party.
He said that the most important thing was for everyone to work towards the party winning Abia State in the 2023 elections, adding that there would be room to accommodate many interests.
Dear Barr. Dozie Okpokiri i think you should start creating more and more and more awareness,
forming structures, other than party.
While others are battling with primaries he should be setting a structure now cuz APC alone will not deliver you. I’m glad you don’t have any opposition from APC.
