Senatorial hopeful in Abia State, Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna has said that only direct primaries in Abia State had the key to produce the best candidates for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections.

Enyinna, who is contesting for the Abia South Senatorial ticket of the party, said that the APC would be making an irretrievable mistake if it adopted any other method of primaries other than the Direct in Abia State.

In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, Enyinna appealed to the National Working Committee of the APC to use the direct primaries in Abia, adding that the state of affairs in the party had on its own recommended the use of direct primaries to produce the candidates for the next general elections.

He expressed optimism that the National Office of the party would be happy with itself for adopting Direct primaries for Abia State, stressing that only the most popular candidates for each of the contestable offices can wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that has held sway in the State for more than 20 years.

The strong contender for the Abia South Senatorial ticket also appealed to members of the APC to vote for him during the primaries, as he was determined to change the narratives as far as representation was concerned.

He said:

“I am determined to make the people of Abia South feel the good impact of government by attracting projects that will impact positively on the lives of the people while discharging my Legislative duties and responsibilities conscientiously and selflessly.”

Enyinna, who decried the poor state of infrastructure in Abia South, ranging from bad roads, dilapidated public schools to poor state of medical facilities, promised to liaise consistently with relevant authorities to ensure that a new lease of life is introduced in Abia South Senatorial District.
