A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Engr. Sterling Chinwendu Uruakpa, has said that there was no victor and no vanquished in the Ukwa West APC following the conduct and ratification of the Congresses.
He said, “Since the Ward, Local Government Areas and State Congresses have been concluded and ratified by the National headquarters of the party, there is need for everyone to come together to build the party. For us in Ukwa West, it is a no victor and no vanquished situation.”
In a statement released after the inauguration of the Ukwa West APC Executive Committee, Uruakpa, who is a Federal Board member, said everybody was welcomed into the party, adding that there is no longer faction in the party.
He cautioned that there would be consequences against any member of the party found disparaging any Leader or member of the party.
He reminded the members that Ukwa West people are known for being peaceful and having great respect for their Elders, stressing that there should be continued peace in the party.
In his words, “Ukwa West is a Local Government that is in peace, a LGA that has maximum respect for elders. We can disagree, protect our political interest keenly, but when it comes to respect we don’t look down on our elders. We can only vote out any elder who is not doing well with his political position. Voting out such a person should be seen by all as a necessity and obligation on us for the benefit of our generation.”
He appealed to the members to embrace the leadership of the new Chairman of Ukwa West APC, Elder Uju Nwarie and give it full support.
Uruakpa emphasized that the leadership of the Chairman should bear in mind that there are a lot of challenges ahead for a total liberation of Ukwa West from further political selfishness and miscalculations, which he said, have plunged the area into perpetual backwardness and suffering.
On the issue of other leaders who are not with High Chief Ikechi Emenike, he said that the genuine APC members were intact and that Ukwa West APC had set up a Committee at the instance of the leader, Chief Nwogu Nwogu to reach out to all aggrieved members, adding that the Committee would commence its assignment very soon.
He expressed his believe in the fact that no one is more important in the party than the other and there should be equal treatment for everyone.
