A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief William Nwanguma, has expressed confidence in the National Reconciliation Committee of the party led by Senator Abdullahi Ahmed.

He commended the Committee for the painstaking efforts made to resolve the differences in the Abia State APC, notwithstanding the deliberate attempts by some members of the party to frustrate its work.

In a statement on Monday, Nwanguma, who was a Deputy Chairman of the Abia State APC, thanked the National Reconciliation Committee of the party for not allowing some mischief makers in the party, who were bent on causing divisions, to distract them but remained focused and committed to its assignment of reconciling the differences in the State chapters of the party where there are issues, adding that holistic reconciliations were germane towards achieving victories in future elections in the country.

He thanked the leaders of the party in Abia, who availed themselves of the opportunity created by the Committee to bring an enduring peace to the party.

Nwanguma called on members to focus more on issues that would always unify and strengthen the party instead of embarking on meaningless voyages that could only polarise the party along individuals’ interests.

According to him, “In Abia State APC, we have been facing great challenges for a long time because some people have had to concentrate more on pursuing personal interests than collective goals to the detriment of the party.

“It will be very good if the differences in our party are resolved as soon as possible so that we can take over governance in Abia from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that has unleashed untold hardship on the good and industrious people of Abia State.”
