Former Secretary to the Abia State Government and one of Ukwa’s most respected elder statesmen, Pastor Ralph Egbu, has been honoured with a prestigious Leadership Award by the National Association of Ndoki Students (NANS), Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, in recognition of his exemplary leadership, integrity, and enduring contributions to the development of Nigeria, Abia State, and the Ukwa people.
The award was presented by a delegation of the association led by its President, Comrade Felix Ubani, who described Pastor Egbu as a leader whose life has consistently reflected honesty, humility, patriotism, and an unwavering commitment to public service. According to the students, the recognition is not merely for the distinguished offices he has occupied, but for the values he has upheld and the lives he has positively influenced over several decades.
The students noted that throughout his career in public service, Pastor Egbu earned widespread respect for his transparent leadership, unblemished record, and principled approach to governance. They praised his dedication to justice, fairness, accountability, and the pursuit of policies that advanced the welfare of the people of Abia State and beyond.
Although Pastor Ralph Egbu is an illustrious son of Asa in Ukwa West Local Government Area, the students observed that his love and commitment have always extended to every part of Ukwa land. They remarked that stories of his uncommon affection for the Ndoki people have become widely known across the area. Time and again, he has demonstrated through his actions that there is no distinction between Asa and Ndoki, recognising both as one people united by a common history, heritage, and destiny within the Ukwa nation.
The association commended his consistent efforts at promoting peace, unity, and cooperation among the communities of Ukwa East and Ukwa West. They acknowledged his readiness to mentor younger generations, encourage educational advancement, and provide wise counsel whenever called upon. They further described him as a bridge builder who has continually placed the collective interest of Ukwa above sectional considerations.
The students challenged the elder statesman not to relent in his service to the people. They urged him to continue working with other patriotic sons and daughters of Ukwa to champion initiatives that will accelerate development across the Federal Constituency, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, economic opportunities, and effective representation. They expressed confidence that leaders of his calibre remain indispensable in positioning Ukwa to attain its rightful place in twenty first century Nigeria.
Receiving the award, Pastor Ralph Egbu expressed profound gratitude to the National Association of Ndoki Students for what he described as a deeply humbling recognition. He dedicated the honour to God Almighty and to the countless men and women whose support, encouragement, and partnership have made his years of public service meaningful.
He commended the students for promoting the values of excellence, leadership, and community service, describing them as the future of Ukwa and the hope of a stronger and more prosperous society. He encouraged them to pursue academic excellence, uphold integrity, remain committed to hard work, and prepare themselves to become responsible leaders capable of transforming their communities.
Pastor Egbu reaffirmed his lifelong belief that the progress of Ukwa East and Ukwa West can only be achieved through unity of purpose, mutual respect, visionary leadership, and sustained collaboration among all stakeholders. He pledged to continue supporting every genuine effort aimed at advancing the welfare of the people, strengthening unity across Ukwa land, and creating greater opportunities for future generations.
He concluded by assuring the students and the people of Ukwa that he remains steadfast in his commitment to working with all people of goodwill to promote peace, encourage development, empower the youth, and contribute meaningfully towards building a more united, prosperous, and progressive Ukwa East and West Federal Constituency.
