Race For Abia Assembly Seat Heats Up In Ukwa West As Nwaji Vows To “Cry Out” For Constituents’ Development During Declaration

Former House of Representatives candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Chief Sylvanus Nwaji, has stated that he would not mind crying before other lawmakers and the Governor to ensure that dividends of democracy reaches his people if he becomes member representing the Ukwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.

He stated this on Monday at Ezendioma, Obuzor Ward while declaring his intention to contest for the Ukwa West State Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

He reminded the people of Ukwa West that they had voted for him in 1997 for the House of Assembly, though it was scuttled by the late Sani Abacha military regime, and urged that the mandate be renewed if he gets the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to run for the House of Assembly.

According to Nwaji, “I have a vision marched with action plan to change the old order of representation. My records of service are those of integrity and commitment to service.”

Nwaji, who was also former Executive Chairman of Ukwa West Local Government Council, assured that he would bring the challenges of the people of Ukwa West to the government of the day, stressing that he would leverage on his past experiences as an administrator to reposition the area for greater economic and social empowerments.

On the issue of old age, he stated categorically that it has given him greater wisdom, strength, vigour, and discernment to address the marginalisation, lack of inclusivity, and total neglect of Asa land, despite its significant economic contributions to Abia State and Nigeria at large.

The APC House of Assembly aspirant made a commitment to empower the youths of Ukwa West in various areas, particularly through scholarship schemes, which he described as essential to the socio-economic growth of the people.

Speaking while new members from other political parties were being received into the APC, a Chieftain of the party, Chief Sir Barrister Sam Ogbonna welcomed the defectors and informed them that the party does not discriminate, as members are treated equally.

The declaration event also witnessed a large turnout of party supporters and stakeholders.
