The Institute for Climate Smart Research and Policy Advocacy (ICSR-PA), has nominated Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna for conferment as a fellow of the Institute.
According to a letter addressed to the Honourable Commissioner by the Registrar General and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, the nomination is in recognition of distinguished service and leadership in environmental governance, climate action, and sustainable development in Abia State and Nigeria at large.
The letter reads in part, “Your work as Honorable Commissioner for Environment reflects a strong commitment to protecting the environment, promoting sustainable resource management, and advancing policies that strengthen climate resilience and public health”.
“The Fellowship of the Institute is reserved for individuals whose leadership, professional achievements, and commitment to sustainable development significantly contribute to climate action and environmental policy advancement”, the letter adds.
Ogbonna is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fellow of the Nigerian Environment Society (NES) and Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
