The member representing Ukwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Godwin Anyamagiobi Adiele has called for the probe of officials of the Abia State Teaching Hospital, Aba over the death of his constituent, Chukwudi Emezuruike.
It had earlier been reported that the deceased, a commercial motorcycle operator from Umuadienwe, Asa in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State was allegedly attacked and killed by armed robbers after he dropped a passenger, and was returning along Pipeline road, Obehie.
Presenting his petition before the Abia State House of Assembly, Adiele narrated how the deceased was initially rushed to Stepping Stone hospital in Obehie from where he was transferred to Abia State Teaching Hospital, Aba, where he was allegedly not given prompt attention by the medical staff on duty.
The lawmaker, who described what happened at the Abia State Teaching Hospital as a case of total negligence, lack of empathy, and care, asked the House to summon the Chief Medical Director, the doctor that was on duty and the matron to appear before the House.
Adiele also appealed to the Abia State government to provide employment to the wife of late Chukwudi Emezuruike. He noted that such support would help cushion the economic impact of the sudden loss on the family.
