The Central Model School, Obehie in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, has emerged the overall winner of the 2025 edition of Ukwa West Local Government Area Authority Primary Schools quiz competition sponsored mainly by Labour Party, (LP), Chieftain, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke.
The competition, which was coordinated by the Ukwa West Education Secretary, Pastor Chukwuemeka Nwuju, began on October 24, 2025.
The first Prize of N150,000 cash was presented to Central Model School Obehie by the Executive Chairman, Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, (ASUBEB), Lady Lydia Ezihe Onuoha, who was represented by the Director, School Services Department, ASUBEB, Rev. Mrs. Uchechi Sampson Mba. The second Prize of N80,000 won by Migrant Fishermen’s Primary School Oborhia Asa, was presented by Chief Dr. Chike Eugene Okpokiri, the Honourable Supervisory Councilor for Education, Ukwa West LGA, while the third Prize award of N50,000 went to Community Primary School Umuiku, Ozaa, Asa, and presented by the Head of Administration of Ukwa West LGEA, Mrs. Ezinne Joy Elekwa.
The quiz competition has made remarkable impact on both learners and teachers across the LGA. For the pupils, it has greatly boosted academic confidence, deepened subject mastery, and encouraged healthy intellectual rivalry among schools. Teachers, on the other hand, have become more intentional in their instructional delivery, as the competition stimulates improved lesson preparation, teamwork, and a renewed passion for academic excellence. Overall, the event has strengthened the culture of learning and has become a motivating platform that drives quality education in Ukwa West.
