The Ukwa West All Progressives Congress (APC) Peace and Reconciliation Committee has called on party members to embrace unity, peace, and reconciliation following a Federal High Court judgement in Abuja affirming Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu as the APC candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement dated October 19, 2026, and signed by the Committee Chairman, Chief ThankGod Ntaku, the committee urged APC members to put aside personal grievances and individual interests in the collective interest of the party.
The committee noted that any further action aimed at prolonging disputes beyond the court’s judgement could deepen divisions within the party and weaken its chances in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The statement read in part:
“As members of the Ukwa West APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee, we recall that the party dedicated three full days to engaging with stakeholders across all the wards in Ukwa West, with the primary objective of fostering peace and promoting reconciliation among party members. We are confident that these engagements yielded significant progress toward restoring unity within our great party.”
The Committee expressed confidence that the reconciliation efforts had made considerable progress in addressing disagreements among party members and restoring unity within the APC in Ukwa West.
Commenting on the court judgement, the Committee stated that the decision presented an opportunity for members to move beyond internal disagreements and work towards strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We believe that with the judgement of the Court today, every member of our party should put aside personal grievances and individual interests in the larger interest of the APC,” the statement added.
The Committee further cautioned that actions capable of escalating tensions among APC members in the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency would undermine the party’s unity and collective political strength.
“It will be stating the obvious that any further actions capable of deepening divisions among APC members in the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency will only weaken our collective strength and undermine the party’s political prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
The Ukwa West APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee stressed that the party could not afford to remain preoccupied with internal disputes and reconciliation efforts while opposition parties continued to consolidate their political positions.
The Committee, while calling on the candidates of the party, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Esq and High Chief Sylvanus Uzoma Nwaji to continue to reach out to all aggrieved members, also appealed to APC members across the federal constituency to recognise that the party’s strength depended on collective unity, loyalty, and commitment rather than individual political ambitions.
The Peace and Reconciliation Committee set up by the Ukwa West APC Leader, Dr. Eruba Dimgba, comprise the following members: Chief ThankGod Ntaku, former Assistant Secretary of Abia State APC and Coordinator, City Boy Movement, Ukwa West, Engr. Sterling Chinwendu Uruakpa, Sir Eugene Dike, Chief Henry Amadi and Chief Alwell Faith Izuwa.
Others are Comrade Uchenna Nwator, Lolo Phoebe Ekenma Wilson, Benjamin Chidiebere Emezuruike (Oturuogbajie), Morris Elele and Linus Okezie Ezere.
