Ukwa East Team Moves Up 12 Notches From Last Competition, Finishes 4th At Governor’s Unity Games

The Ukwa East Team has emerged 4th in the just concluded Governor’s Secondary School Unity Games.

It should be recalled that Ukwa East Team came 16th position during the last edition of the competition.

According to a release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the local government area, Comrade Justice Enyinnaya Nwaubani, the team bagged several medals across various sports categories:

– Swimming: 6 Golds, 10 Silvers, 10 Bronzes
– Kickboxing: 3 Golds, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze
– Ayo: 2 Golds, 2 Silvers, 3 Bronzes
– Chess: 1 Gold, 1 Silver
– Taekwondo: 2 Golds, 2 Silvers, 4 Bronzes
– Dart: 3 Golds, 2 Silvers, 2 Bronzes
– Boxing: 1 Silver, 2 Bronzes
– Judo: 1 Gold, 1 Bronze
– Weightlifting: 3 Silvers
– Badminton: 1 Gold, 2 Silvers, 2 Bronzes.

In his good will message to Team, the Executive Chairman of Ukwa East, Hon. Chibunna Akara said he was honoured to lead a community that valued excellence, and commended the coaches, teachers, and support staff for their tireless efforts in shaping the minds and skills of the students.

In her remarks, according to the statement, the Ukwa East Sport Secretary, Mrs. Kelechi Eguonu attributed the Team’s impressive outing to a combination of exceptional talent, rigorous training, commitment to excellence, tireless efforts of the coaches, teachers, adding that the support provided by the Executive Chairman accounted significantly to their good performance.
