In a determined effort to ensure credibility, discipline, and transparency in the conduct of the 2025 Primary School Leaving Certificate Examination (PSLCE), the Education Secretary of Ukwa West Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Hon. Pst. Chukwuemeka Nwuju, has announced the deployment of trained examination monitors to all examination centres across the Local Government Area.
The deployment, which comes ahead of the examination scheduled for July 8 and 9, 2025, underscores the LGEA’s commitment to uphold the integrity of the examination process, eliminate malpractice, and discourage unethical conduct or extortion by school officials.
According to a press release issued on July 4, 2025, from the Office of the Education Secretary, the trained monitors will oversee examination activities in both public and private primary schools. They are expected to collaborate with headteachers, school proprietors, and supervisors to ensure strict compliance with examination guidelines, safeguard the welfare of pupils, and create a malpractice-free and conducive examination environment.
The Education Secretary warned that any teacher or supervisor found aiding examination malpractice or engaging in extortion would face strict disciplinary action in line with Civil Service Rules and Education Policy Standards.
“This exam is not just a test of knowledge; it is a test of our integrity as educators. We must do what is right and protect the future of our children”, the statement emphasized.
He also warned all private schools in the area to desist from any form of examination malpractice and extortion, adding, “Any private or public school found in any form of malpractice will face the full weight of the law.”
He finally called on all stakeholders, including the Area Inspectorate of Education, teachers, School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), parents, pupils, and community leaders, to support the LGEA’s initiative and ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible examination exercise.
