The Campaign Council of the the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu has described the omission of its candidate in the campaign brochure of the Abia State APC as not only an affront to the judiciary, but a deliberate act against the interest of Ukwa, particularly Asa people in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
In a press statement dated November 7, 2026, the Council reaffirmed that Nwogu is the candidate of the APC for Ukwa Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections.
The statement reads:
We wish to state categorically as follows:
1.That Chief Sam Nwogu is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general election.
2.That Chief Sam Nwogu received the highest number of lawful votes cast during the APC primary election and was duly declared winner of that primary.
3.That following a suit challenging his emergence, filed by the Member Representing Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, the Federal High Court in Abuja further validated his victory and declared him the authentic candidate of the APC for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency.
4.That the decision of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the APC in Abia State to intentionally omit the picture of Chief Sam Nwogu from their campaign brochure is an affront to the judiciary and a deliberate act against the interest of Nde Ukwa, particularly the people of Asa who have not had the opportunity to represent the Federal Constituency in the last two decades.
5.That Chief Sam Nwogu has since commenced his electioneering campaigns in line with the stipulated INEC guidelines.
6.That having emerged victorious in the APC primaries and at the Federal High Court, Chief Sam Nwogu is confident of winning his election overwhelmingly come 2027.
7.That the good people of Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency have implicit confidence in the candidature of Chief Sam Nwogu and his track record, having served in positions of trust and distinguished himself in public service.
We therefore, call on the Ukwa electorate to ignore, disregard and discountenance the baseless propaganda coming from those who are afraid of his towering image and growing popularity.
