Ukwa West: 2026 Asa Day Celebration Committee Plans Talent Hunt, Empowerment, Bursary Programmes

The 2026 Asa Day Planning Committee has announced plans to make this year’s celebration more participatory and inclusive, with activities aimed at promoting cultural heritage, discovering talents and empowering members of the Asa community.

The committee said the programme, scheduled for December 26, 2026, would feature talent hunts, mini-empowerment initiatives and bursary programmes to support young people and promote community development.

In a statement signed by Felix Chidubem Ambition, Media and Publicity of the 2026 Asa Day Planning Committee, the committee called on young people with outstanding talents to register ahead of the celebration. Content creators, musicians, comedians, actors and other emerging talents are also expected to have opportunities to showcase their abilities during the event.

The committee further urged community leaders, individuals and groups to suspend or reschedule programmes that could conflict with the designated date to ensure maximum participation. It stressed that the success of Asa Day would depend on the collective commitment and support of the entire community.

It also called on traditional rulers, political leaders, youth organisations, women’s groups, business owners, community leaders and all sons and daughters of Asa, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite in support of the celebration.

According to the committee, Asa Day goes beyond cultural festivities, providing an opportunity to strengthen unity, celebrate the community’s identity, empower young people and promote a sustainable future.

The committee urged every community, family and stakeholder to contribute towards making the December 26 celebration a memorable occasion in the development of Asa.
