The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Esq would launch an empowerment programme for women of the constituency if he is voted into the House of Representatives, his Media Team has revealed.
The programme to be called Ukwa Women Economic Advancement Scheme (UWEAS) will be targeted at women empowerment instead of what it described as superficial donations.
In a publication dated September21, 2026, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu’s Media Team explained that the programme would focus on establishing low-interest cooperative funds, providing direct access to federal micro-credit institutions, farm support, and offering specialised business training designed to scale-up rural commerce and small scale manufacturing.
“No society can achieve true developmental equilibrium while ignoring the economic potential of its women. Across the length and breadth of Ukwa, our mothers, wives, and daughters form the backbone of the agrarian economy, cross-border trade, and community cohesion. Yet their contribution has rarely been matched with structured institutional support at the federal level. True inclusion is not about occasional political rhetoric; it is about embedding women’s progress into statutory frameworks and accessible financial structures”, the publication stated.
According to the publication, Nwogu’s blueprint addresses the crucial area of maternal health and rural healthcare infrastructure, adding that through targeted constituency interventions, he plans to fully equip primary healthcare centres across all wards in Ukwa East and Ukwa West so that no woman loses her life or her child to preventable gaps in healthcare.
