Prominent sons of Owo Ala Community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have expressed gratitude to the Commissioner representing Abia State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Chief Eruba Dimgba, for facilitating the installation of solar street lights in the community.
The community leaders described the project as a significant intervention that would improve security, visibility and the general well-being of residents, while expressing appreciation for Dimgba’s commitment to the development of Ukwa West.
It should be recalled that the NDDC Commissioner had, in October 2025, during the flag-off of the construction of the Ngwaiyiekwe-Owo Ala-Umuadienwe Road, disclosed that the commission had approved 233 solar street light panels for Owo Ala and Umuadienwe communities.
Reacting to the completion of the solar street light installation on the community’s WhatsApp platform, former Chairman of Owo Ala Community, Chief Adim Okpokiri, expressed appreciation to Dimgba for his continued commitment to the development of the area.
He said, “God will continuously bless Chief Eruba Dimgba as he continues to bless Owo Ala Community in his developmental strides.”
Similarly, Chief ThankGod Ntaku, who gave all the glory to God, described the completion of the solar street light project as “good news,” while Dr. Chief Chike Eugene Okpokiri congratulated the community and urged residents to appreciate development efforts by their own people.
“Let’s learn to celebrate our own, especially when their efforts should count,” he said.
The Chairman of Owo Ala Welfare Union, Dr. Ugochukwu Nwankwo, said the installation of the solar lights was an indication of greater development projects to come to the community.
Also speaking, Chief Ben Azuogu Emeruwa described the project as a welcome development that would positively impact residents of Owo Ala Community.
While circulating the development on the community’s WhatsApp platform, Chairman of Owo Ala Community, Mr. Chinwendu Adiele, also highlighted the ongoing construction work on the Ngwaiyiekwe-Owo Ala-Umuadienwe Road.
Some community members who spoke with Newsportal Media expressed appreciation to the NDDC and particularly to Commissioner Eruba Dimgba for what they described as his commitment to the overall development of Ukwa West Local Government Area.
