Ukwa West Youth Leaders Commend Chairman Nwankwo On Administration’s Giant Strides

The 35 Youth Presidents of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with the developmental strides of the administration of the Chairman of their local government area, Pst. Dike Briggs Nwankwo.

According to a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Chidi Gift Onyedikachi, dated October 1, 2026, the youth leaders, who spoke through Comrade Akobundu John, commended the Chairman for what was described as remarkable transformation across the Local Government Area.

“We have come solely to appreciate you, the People’s Mayor, for all you have done and continue to do in our LGA since the inception of your administration. You have demonstrated that good governance is possible, especially when viewed against the political history of our Local Government. We are sincerely grateful to you, Sir, and we will continue to stand by you throughout your administration,” he said.

He noted that since the creation of Ukwa West, the people had not experienced the level of developmental attention currently being witnessed under the leadership of the Chairman. He particularly highlighted the transformation of Obehie, noting that the community has received a significant facelift that, in his view, stands out in the history of the Local Government.

The Youth President of Umuebulungwu, while reflecting on his recent visit to the Asa Agric intervention site, said he was literally left short of words after seeing the level of activity taking place at the facility, which his community hosts.

According to him, the site is now operational, with several projects and agricultural activities going on simultaneously. He said the development was a clear indication that the administration’s interventions are not merely promises on paper but projects that can be physically seen by the people.

Also speaking, Comr. Chisom Nwaoloziri, Youth President of Umuokwor, took a more direct swipe at critics of the administration.

He said, “It will take a blind opposition and desperate individuals seeking political relevance to deny or underplay the strides of the People’s Mayor’s administration scattered across the LGA.”

He pointed to interventions in water supply, youth empowerment, infrastructure and security as areas where, according to him, the administration’s impact is visible across Ukwa West and remains unprecedented. He further said that as a lover of sports, seeing the completed perimeter fencing of Okeikpe Stadium has reassured him that the recreational facility will in no distant time come back bigger and better.

The youth leaders maintained that the reality on the ground is different from narratives being circulated by what they described as political naysayers. They challenged those who question the administration’s achievements to move beyond social media commentary and visit the communities where the projects and interventions are taking place.

They further stressed that those who are genuinely on the ground and witnessing the developments daily cannot easily be persuaded to deny what they can see for themselves.

The youth leaders therefore reaffirmed their solidarity with the Chairman, stressing that wherever the Mayor stands, the youths of Ukwa West will stand with him.

They urged him to remain focused on his developmental agenda and not be distracted by what they described as attempts by opposition elements and political actors to distort the record of his administration.

Responding, the Chairman thanked the youth leaders for their show of solidarity and encouraged them to see leadership as an opportunity to demonstrate capacity, responsibility and service to their communities. He equally promised to sponsor their monthly meetings.

He highlighted the Skill Acquisition Centre under construction at Obehie by the Inner Galaxy Company Limited, which he attracted to the LGA, adding that the project is expected to be completed before December and would provide practical skills and economic opportunities for youths.

The Chairman, also, recounted his intervention in securing admission slot for a certain Asa son into the Nigerian Police Academy, noting that the beneficiary is expected to graduate as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) upon successful completion of training. This is the task of every leader, to ensure that human capital development takes the centre stage.

He further reiterated his commitment to the growth and development of the area through quality and intentional leadership. He urged the youth leaders to support all Labour party candidates and the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
