The Solidarity Movement has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Esq., as consensus candidate and called on its members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a publication by Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu Media Team dated September 29, 2026, the position was made known during a ward meeting of the movement held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Ipu East Ward, Obehie, in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
The meeting attracted members of the movement from across Ukwa West, with discussions centred on mobilisation, commitment and preparations for the 2027 elections.
Addressing the gathering, the President of the Solidarity Movement, Hon. Innocent Chiuwa, urged members to strengthen their mobilisation efforts and reach out to more people across their wards ahead of the election.
“It is time to bring people across our wards together to make sure we secure victory come 2027,” Chiuwa said.
He reaffirmed the movement’s support for Nwogu, saying, “Hon. Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu is our candidate. Let us make sure we work together. The Solidarity Movement has adopted him as our consensus candidate.” he said.
Also speaking, Hon. Mezie Nwubani, former Chief Whip of Abia State Assembly, appreciated the movement for its support and encouraged its leadership and members to remain committed to the mobilisation.
“I am here today to appreciate the movement and encourage you people for supporting Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu. The movement is on the right step,” Nwaubani said.
Nwubani also highlighted what he described as Nwogu’s previous achievements in public service, describing him as a “tested and trusted” leader and urging members of the movement to remain committed ahead of the election.
According to him, Chief Nwogu employed more than 400 people during his tenure as Transition Committee Chairman of Ukwa West Local Government Area. He also said that during Nwogu’s time at the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), he gave scholarships to more than 211 Ukwa students to undertake professional courses at Abia State University and also secured employment opportunities for Ukwa men and women in ASOPADEC.
“Nwogu is a man who has proven himself as a leader who is tested and trusted,” Nwubani said.
The Ipu East Ward Women Leader of the Solidarity Movement, Mrs. Charity Mbuonye, who spoke on behalf of the women, pledged their support for Nwogu and expressed their readiness to mobilise across Ipu East Ward.
She also appreciated members of the movement for attending the meeting and contributing to its activities.
The meeting ended with prayers and praise, as members reaffirmed their support for Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu and their commitment to grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
