A prominent daughter of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Mrs. Maryam Obianuju Mustapha, has bagged a PhD in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
Mrs. Mustapha was among the 19 graduands awarded PhD degrees in Defence and Strategic Studies at the 36th Convocation Ceremony of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), held in Kaduna State on Thursday.
The academic milestone marks another significant achievement in the career of the Ukwa West indigene, who has built an impressive educational background in political science and public administration, international relations, defence and strategic studies.
Mrs. Mustapha, who hails from Owo Ala Asa in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, began her education at Ozar Central School before proceeding to Ozar Secondary School, where she obtained her West African School Certificate.
She later gained admission to the University of Uyo, where she studied Political Science/Public Administration. Determined to further her academic career, she proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt, where she obtained a Master’s degree in International Relations.
She subsequently pursued another Master’s degree in Defence and Strategic Studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, before advancing to the doctoral level.
Mrs. Mustapha, who eventually earned her PhD in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, was joined by her husband, Col. Ali Baba Mustapha and two of her sisters, Mrs Julieth Chukwunenye and Dr. Lynda Adiele during the ceremony.
