The member representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State to remain united despite the ongoing legal battle over the party’s ticket for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Nkwonta made the call while addressing APC stakeholders from Ukwa East and Ukwa West at his country home in Akwete, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.
He said the meeting was convened to strengthen unity within the party and mobilise massive support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmaker maintained that he won the APC primary election for the Ukwa Federal Constituency but alleged that the result was subsequently altered against him.
According to Nkwonta, the matter is currently before the court, and he expressed confidence that justice would ultimately prevail.
He also said he was seeking another term in office to consolidate his vision and advance his developmental agenda for the people of Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
Nkwonta further commended the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging APC members and supporters to back the President’s re-election bid and work collectively for the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the meeting, the Abia State APC Treasurer, Chief John Ajuzieogu, who represented the State Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, assured party members that the APC would support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s authentic candidate for the Ukwa Federal Constituency election.
Also speaking, a leader of the APC in Abia State, Hon. Emeka Stanley, expressed confidence that the mandate of Hon. Chris Nkwonta would be restored.
The meeting was attended by a large gathering of APC stakeholders, leaders and members from Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
