The Commissioner representing Abia State on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Eruba Dimgba, has called for sustained peace, stability, and prosperity across Nigeria as the nation commemorates the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
In a goodwill message marking June 12 Democracy Day, Dr. Dimgba expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges and attain its full potential as the giant of Africa through unity of purpose, patriotism, and dedication.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Youth and Mobilisation, Elder ThankGod Akoma, the NDDC Commissioner described democracy as the bedrock of national unity, justice, good governance, and sustainable development.
He noted that Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the resilience of the Nigerian people and the enduring value of participatory governance.

“As we mark this day, we must recommit ourselves to the ideals of equity, accountability, transparency, and inclusive growth that democracy represents,” Dimgba stated.
The Commissioner further reaffirmed the commitment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to the accelerated development of the Niger Delta region through transparent, people-oriented projects that improve lives and expand opportunities.
He noted that meaningful democratic progress required collective responsibility from leaders and citizens alike, stressing the need for Nigerians to actively participate in nation building at all levels.
