As part of its sustained Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has donated essential food items, toiletries, and cash to the School for the Blind in Afaraukwu, Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State.
According to a statement released by the Information Unit of ASOPADEC, this latest donation follows a recent outreach to Susana Homes for the Less Privileged in Obuzor, Ukwa West LGA, demonstrating the Commission’s unwavering commitment to empowering vulnerable groups in Abia State.
During the visit, ASOPADEC General Manager, Venerable Dr. Joshua Onyeike, represented by the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Amarachi Isaac-Nwachukwu, reiterated that the initiative aligns with the Commission’s vision to support the less privileged and complement the poverty alleviation programmes of Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
Mrs. Isaac-Nwachukwu reaffirmed ASOPADEC’s longstanding partnership with the School for the Blind, pledging sustained support. She also emphasized the Commission’s ongoing efforts under Dr. Onyeike’s leadership to deliver infrastructure and development projects across Abia State, in line with its statutory mandate.
In appreciation, the Principal of the School for the Blind, Mrs. Onyeozari Benadet Nne Nna, thanked ASOPADEC and its leadership for the kind gesture, noting that the donation would go a long way in improving the students’ welfare.
The Senior Prefect of the School, Agu Christian, also commended Governor Otti and ASOPADEC for their continued support and offered prayers for their success.
