A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Signor Kanu, on Thursday, at his alma-mater, Ozar Secondary School in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, emphasized the importance of sports as tools for unity and development.
Speaking through a representative, Mr. Maduakolam Adiele, during the Inter-house sports competition of Ozar Secondary School, he stated that sports was a veritable tool for social mobilisation and source of generating revenue for individuals, organisations and Nations.
Kanu, who has the Yellow House of the Ozar Secondary School named in his honour for his financial contributions to the school, called on other alumni of the school and philanthropists to support the school in order to maintain the standard which it was known for.
He used the opportunity to advise members of SIGNOR KANU house, and other students of the school to imbibe the spirit of excellence, hardwork and diligence in their pursuit of academic endeavours, adding that the society will always reward sacrifices and great efforts.
The colourful ceremony, which was chaired by a proprietor of a private school at Obehie in Ukwa West Local Government Area, Hon. Ezedinachi Kanu, witnessed the attendance of many parents, prominent individuals and lovers of the school, including Ukwa West Local Government Education Secretary, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwuju.
