The Council of Chiefs of Ipu West Autonomous Community has passed a vote of confidence on their Traditional Prime Minister, Chief Maxwell Chibuzor Nwagbara.

In a statement dated January 22, 2025 and signed for themselves and on behalf of the Ipu West Autonomous Community, Owaza/Umudobia Ancient Kingdom, the Traditional Prime Minister, Chief Maxwell Chibuzor Nwagbara, Chairman, Community Development Committee, Chief Onyemachi Dimgba, Youth Leader, Comrade Udochukwu Nwambu and Chairman, Ipu West Autonomous Community Council of Chiefs, Chief Samuel Nwogu, the Community stated that Chief Nwagbara, who was duly chosen by their late Traditional Ruler, Eze Young Nwokoru Ogbonna, and endorsed by the leadership of the Community, remains their substantive Traditional Prime Minister.

The Community also said that it had noted, with serious concern, that some misguided elements in the Community have been parading an unrecognised person as the Traditional Prime Minister of the Ipu West Autonomous Community, stressing that such actions would attract full the weight of the Community laws.

The statement reads in part:

“We strongly warn all imposters and intruders to desist from parading themselves as the Traditional Prime Minister of Ipu West Autonomous Community. Such actions are not only illegal but also disrespectful to the traditions and customs of our kingdom.

“Let it be known that any person or group of persons attempting to assume or claim this revered position without proper authority will face the full wrath of the Community’s laws.

“We call on the public, government agencies, and the media to disregard any false claims made by unauthorized individuals and to continue recognizing Chief Maxwell Chibuzor Nwagabara and the leadership of Ipu West as the legitimate TPM of Ipu West Autonomous Community.”
