The Asa Development Union, ADU, has commended the efforts of the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, towards bringing development to Ukwa West Local Government Area.

In a public statement issued on Monday, the Secretary General of the Union, Sir Boniface Nwaigwe, said the most recent of the efforts of the Abia State Governor was the award of the contract for the reconstruction of the Obehie – Owaza road.

It should be recalled that the Otti’s administration has completed a major road at Obehie, completed the upgrade of a major market at Umuajoha, embarked on the reconstruction of the Obehie – Asa High School road and approved the payment of compensations to the communities whose land was acquired for the Abia Industrial Innovation Park, AIIP.

The ADU, which was reacting to a publication made by former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Abia State, Sir Don Ubani, to the effect that he would not attend the yearly cultural event of Asa people this December in protest of what he described as marginalisation of Asa people by the Alex Otti led government, encouraged every Asa man to attend the event, and always support the Union’s activities.

“We also implore everyone to always pray for and have faith in our sons and daughters who today are occupying various positions of authority in tbs Federal, State and Local levels of Government”, the statement adds.
