ABSU New VC Unveils Vision For University; Harps On Zero Tolerance For Corruption

The new Vice-Chancellor, Abia state University Uturu, (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe James Okeudo, has unveiled the vision, mission and core value of his administration that will take the Institution to a new level of glory.

Addressing the 92nd Extra Ordinary meeting of Senate, Thursday November 7th, 2024 at the Senate Chamber, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed that his vision is “To reposition Abia State University to become a University with global recognition, standing tall among the best in the world”.

Speaking further, he stated that his mission statement is
“To harness all resources for the rapid transformation of the University so as to produce sufficiently enlightened and skilled graduates and Postgraduates with impeccable character who will provide expert manpower for rapid development of Nigeria.”
This he said requires emphasis on research development, knowledge dissemination, training and producing entrepreneurs needed in turning the country into a more productive economy.

Professor Okeudo maintained that his administration will have zero tolerance for all forms of corruption, malfeasance, abuse of office and nepotism, adding that one of his priorities is to ensure that hence forth, more transparency and order in the mobilization of law graduates of the University for the mandatory Law School will strictly be followed.

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, expressed appreciation to the Governor and Visitor to the University, Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR, for his appointment and assured that with the support of the new Governing Council, ABSU is set for greater height in all areas.

“I am therefore pleading for the support of the entire University community so that ABSU of our dream will become once more a present day reality for our benefit and the benefit of students and children today and all our tomorrows”he said.

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Academic, Professor G. I. N. Emezue, on behalf of the entire members of Senate, welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndukwe Okeudo and assured him of the maximum cooperation of Senate and other academic staff to achieve the vision of repositioning ABSU to become a University with global recognition.

It will be recalled that Professor N. J. Okeudo, formally took charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University, Friday November 1st 2024 from Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu following his appointment by the Governor Abia State and Visitor to University, Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR, to replace the former Vice-Chancellor.
