Abia Ministry Of Environment To Hold First-Ever Stakeholders Engagement On Climate Change

The Abia State Ministry of Environment has concluded plans to hold the first-ever Stakeholders Engagement On Climate Change at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

In a chat with Newsportal, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, who disclosed that the event would be the first-ever to be organised by the Abia State Government on Climate Change, said the aim of the programme is to develop climate change framework and action plans, build strategic partnerships and set protocols for a holistic climate action in Abia State.

According to the Commissioner, the event, which would last for two days between August 29 and August 30, 2024, would attract climate change experts from the government, academia and the entire climate change space.

The theme of the Engagement is, Towards Abia Climate Governance and Policy Framework: Widening Participation for Sustainable Growth.

The key note address during the event will be presented by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, while the Director General, National Council on Climate Change, Dr. Nkeiru Maduekwe is expected to be in attendance.
