Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has been commended for embarking on impactful development projects in Asa Land, the oil the producing Local Government Area of State.
Speaking during a visit to one of the projects of the Commission in the area, a stakeholder of the area, Dr Gregory Enyinnaya expressed happiness with the on-going reconstruction of Obehie Ezendioma 144 Battalion road in Ukwa West LGA and disclosed that the people of the areas have suffered untold hardship owing to the dilapidated State of the road over the years and thanked the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti for intervening in the reconstruction of the road through ASOPADEC.
According to Dr. Enyinnaya who hails from Umuala Isi Obehie Autonomous Community, the people are hopeful that the road will be completed on record time and that it will improve economic activities of the area while pledging their loyalty and support to the Labour Party in the area led by the General Manager of ASOPADEC, Venerable Joshua Onyeike and administration of Alex Otti, OFR.
Also speaking the chief executive officer of Anstro global concept and contractor handling the road project, Hon. Anselem Eletuo said that work has commenced with the drainage system of the road which will be followed by earthwork, he thanked the General Manager of ASOPADEC for awarding the contract to him, an indigene of the area and assured that he will deliver quality work to the people.
Hon. Eletuo pointed out that Venerable Joshua Onyeike has strived to change the narratives ASOPADEC since he assumed office as General Manager of the Commission outlining some of his achievements to include reconstruction of Umuokomiri Obehie road, sustained the scholarship scheme of the Commission, construction of water boreholes in and around Ukwa land and beyond, reconstruction of Ahia Orie, Umuajuohia Obuzor Asa as well as on going construction of Asa Civic center located xat Obehie all in Ukwa West LGA.
In his remarks, the Director of Works, Engr Emeka Gberemako, expresses satisfaction with the pace of work and quality of materials being used for the reconstruction of the road. He, however, pointed out that there were minor observations that required corrections, which, according to him, is the essence of the inspection.
