Following the October/November 2023 accreditation visits by the National Universities Commission to Rhema University Nigeria, Aba the university has now received full accreditation for all courses offered by the university.

The Commission, in a letter dated June 6, 2024, and signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Engr. Abraham Chundusu listed the courses it offered full accreditation, and these include: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Human Anatomy, Mass Communication, Medicine and Surgery, Biochemistry and Chemistry.

It would be recalled that earlier, the National Universities Commission had offered full accreditation to Rhema University’s Nursing Science Department, which came in the heels of the accreditation received from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, as well as accreditations received from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for our Medicine and Surgery Programme, and from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria for our medical laboratory science programme. By these recent accreditation results, all the programmes of Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science in our College of Medicine and Health Sciences have Full Accreditation.

The National Universities Commission is empowered by law to lay down minimum academic standards for programmes taught in Nigerian universities, and to accredit such programmes in line with the provisions of the act that established the Commission.

According to the Commission, the Full Accreditation for these programmes has a five-year span after which Rhema University Nigeria, Aba will be up for another round of accreditation visits by the Commission.

Speaking on these accreditations, the Vice Chancellor, Rhema University Nigeria, Professor Ogbonnaya Onwudike noted that this cheery news will further boost the university’s continual quest to equip humanity for excellence via the head and heart education philosophy.

He pledged that in spite of lean resources as a result of Nigeria’s harsh economic realities, no effort will be spared in sustaining and upping the standards for which Rhema University received these accreditations, and we are poised to present graduates who will contribute to the development and growth of humanity and society.

Rhema University Nigeria, Aba opened its gates for admissions fourteen years ago when it received the Federal Government’s license to operate as one of the private universities in the South East of Nigeria.
