Asa Development Union Commends Abia Government For Prompt Response To Distress Call Over Collapsed Building In Ukwa West

The Asa Development Union, ADU, the apex socio-cultural organisation in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia, has commended the Abia State Government for the prompt response to the distress call made about the collapsed building in their area.

It should be recalled that Newsportal had recently reported about a two storey building that collapsed at the Obingwu community in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking during a general consultative meeting, the Acting President General of the ADU, Barrister Godson O. C. Ihenko, expressed appreciation to the officials of the Abia State Government who intervened quickly to recover the bodies of the persons who were killed when a building which was under construction collapsed on them.

Ihenko said the Union was grateful to the Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, the Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Mr. Newman Azu for being actively involved throughout the rescue operations, and particularly the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Otti, for the great empathy he showed when the distress call was put across to him.

The Acting President General was also full of appreciation for the member representing the Ukwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Godwin Anyamagiobi Adiele, the Commissioner for Lands, SSA to the Governor on Homeland Security, Julius Berger, Crane Burg Construction Company and the Security Agencies in the State.

He described the commitment shown by the State officers as a testament to the quality of leadership being offered by the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the vote of confidence passed on the administration of Dr. Alex Otti, which was moved by Sir Don Ubani, and seconded by Rt. Hon. Ngozi Ulunwa.
