The National Executive Council, NEC, of the Asa Development Union, ADU, on Sunday at the Abia Hotels, Aba, Inaugurated the Caretaker Committee of its Aba branch.
Speaking before the inauguration, the Acting President General of the Union, Barrister G.O.C. Ihenkor, thanked the sons and daughters of Asa land resident in Aba that did their best in the time past to bring the bring the people together under the umbrella of the Asa Development Union.
He also commended other Asa sons and daughters who have formed other groups in Aba, but reminded them that they were appendages of the ADU, the apex socio-cultural organisation in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
In his post inauguration speech, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Barrister Henry Chilaka, expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to him to serve the Union, adding that he would work towards ensuring that the branch takes it’s pride of place among all the branches of the Union.
Chilaka recalled that he has been very privileged as an indigene of Asa land, having had the opportunity, early in his life, to occupy many political positions ranging from Councillorship to the Sole Administrator of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC.
Other members of the Caretaker Committee are; Sir P.C.O. Agomuo, Vice Chairman, Sir Isaac Okezuo Nelson, Secretary General, Mrs Nkechi Nwaobiwe, Treasurer, Maxwell Elechi, Publicity Secretary, Ikechukwu Nwankwo, Director, Contact and Mobilisation, Chief Ndubuisi Enyioko, Adviser, Chief (Hon) Ikechukwu Eche, Adviser and Sir Eugene Dike, Adviser.
Others are Mr.ThankGod Akoma, Mr Ikechukwu James, Bishop (Mrs) Anyamele, Mr Innocent Ajuzieogu, Mrs Bridget Adiele and Mrs Uloma.
