The member representing the Ukwa East / Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, has commended the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti for his giant strides in the educational sector.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Honourable member on Education,, Dr. Chibuzor Nwankwo.
According to the statement, the Reps member has, in order to complement the efforts of the Abia State government, rolled out an education support programme for his constituents, which range from free JAMB registration, free WAEC registration, free lesson/exam preparations for JAMB candidates, bursary awards to undergraduates of tertiary institutions, renovation of schools to distribution of free exercise books to those in primary and secondary schools.
“Nkwonta is committed to impacting positively on the lives of his constituents through other programs on Youth Empowerment, Job Creation, Social and Community Engagements, Infrastructural and Community Development Initiatives, Women Empowerment and Agricultural Development”, the statement adds.
The House Member advised that candidates who wished to sit for JAMB examination should collect applications free of charge from their local government headquarters. He also asked principals and head teachers to collect schools renovation forms, and undergraduates to collect bursary disbursement forms from their local government headquarters.
