Some prominent Asa indigenes have been nominated for awards by the Ezumezu Ozaa, a socio-cultural organisation in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, for having distinguished themselves in both private and public services.
In a statement, the President of the organisation, Chief Laz Enwereuzor said they decided to honour their illustrious daughter and sons for attaining enviable heights in their chosen fields.
The awardees are the Vice Chancellor, Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Maxwell Onyemachi Ogbulu, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Edith Nwosu, former Chairman, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, Barrister Samuel O. Nwogu, member, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Godwin Anyamagiobi Adiele, and Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Commissioner, Chief Eruba Dimgba.
Enwereuzor, who said their end-of-year party would hold on December 28, 2023, at the country home of immediate past Chairman, Ukwa West Local Government Area, Okey Kanu, disclosed that the socio-cultural body, composed of Ozaa elites, was saddled with the responsibilities of nurturing and sustaining the ancient cultural heritage of the people of Ozaa, and oversight functions of ensuring the general development of the area.
He said that the major reason behind awards was to encourage other sons and daughters of their community to be more diligent, focused, and committed in all their pursuits that are legal.
